Yoma

Elaine Briggs started Yoma in 2000 whilst living and working in Singapore and Sydney. On returning to the UK, she established Yoma here in London.
In addition to working for Yoma, Elaine is a Freelance Fashion Editor for Condenast publications in London and Italy. She has worked as Fashion Editor for Italian Vogue Bambini, Italian Vogue Sposa, Brides, W, Observer, Sunday Times, Saturday Times Magazine, Australian Vogue Entertaining, Australian She magazine and Australian Elle magazine.
Elaine also has a freelance styling career for celebrities such as Sir Simon Rattle, Elle Macpherson, Cecilia Bartolli , Bryn Terfel and Alan Titchmarsh to corporate clients: M & S, Barbour, Debenhams and EMI Classics. Elaine contributed to the 2000 Adidas Olympic campaign.
On a personal side Elaine has been practising Tibetan Buddhism for over 15 years and feels that now is the time for ‘ethical fashion’ and ‘fairtrade’. So she works with two families, one Tibetan and one Burmese. They are paid directly by Elaine and as such have benefited enormously. Yoma also prides itself in keeping traditional crafts such as jade carving alive.
Yoma jewellery is organic, pure and spirited.
It is collected and carved by hand, no harmful dyes are added to enhance the colours, because of this the energy of the stone is intact and as such is very strong. All the Burmese men and women who carve and polish the stones are Buddhist and traditionally they sing or meditate as they work with the jade. Their energy is added to each and every piece.
Each piece is unique.
Yoma jewellery has soul and integrity.
